Operating Room Technician (Surgical Tech)
Overview
Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently seeking an Operating Room (Surgical) Technician to support operations at the Northern California Health Care System located at 10535 Hospital Way, Mather, CA 95655. Responsibilities
- Take vital signs, room patients, and assist with clinical tasks (e.g., wound checks, biopsies, vision/pressure checks).
- Perform minor procedures such as:
- Biopsies
- Toenail clippings
- Catheter changes
- Post-residual void scans
- Set up sterile field and ensure sterility during procedures.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain all procedure setups.
- Ensure all needed supplies and instruments are available prior to procedures.
- Assist providers with positioning, prepping, and obtaining supplies for patients.
- Follow universal precautions and infection control protocols.
- Label and handle all specimens properly, place orders, and deliver directly to the lab.
- Pre-clean RME (Reusable Medical Equipment) in accordance with VISN SPS policy.
- Enter surgery orders.
- Communicate with patients regarding scheduling and surgery times.
- Assist in completing anesthesia questionnaires and routing them to pre-anesthesia.
- Provide patients with pre-op testing instructions and timelines.
- Ensure all required testing results are received before surgery; escalate abnormal results.
Qualifications
- Experience consistent with Surgical Technician responsibilities.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification preferred but not required
- Minimum one year of direct patient care experience within the last 3 years.
- Active AHA BLS certification
All candidates must be able to:
- Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
- Lift up to 20 lbs
- Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
- Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
