Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting an Ophthalmologist/Glaucoma Specialist to provide onsite services to eligible beneficiaries of the Columbia VA Health Care System located at 6439 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Shift scheduling is generally Mon-Fri, 0800-1630 with call 1 week per month. Full-time and Locum Tenens positions with generous compensation packages are available.

Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive Ophthalmology and Glaucoma care to VA patients
- Perform clinical evaluations, surgical care, consults, and follow‑ups
- Conduct bedside consults for non‑ambulatory patients
- Manage walk‑ins and scheduled appointments
- Complete procedures within 30 days of consult date
- Provide discharge education and follow‑up instructions
- Communicate test results per VHA Directive 1088
- Follow all VA medication policies (no sample meds)
- Perform full range of clinical Ophthalmology and oculoplastic procedures
- Maintain presence in clinic/OR at the scheduled start time
- Participate in quality improvement meetings
- Attend staff meetings (monthly, ~30 minutes)
- Complete QM/PI documentation (procedures, complications, outcomes)
- Report patient safety incidents within 24 hours
- Ensure complete and timely documentation in the EHR
- Provide after‑hours phone consultation
- Provide on‑site coverage as required
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology (ABO)
- Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS
- Completion of an ACGME‑accredited Ophthalmology residency
- Fellowship completion if performing subspecialty care (e.g., Glaucoma)
- NPI report printout
- Active DEA license
- Must be able to pass a federal background investigation
All candidates must be able to:
- Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
- Lift up to 20 lbs
- Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
- Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
