Overview
Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting Electricians to support the VA Palo Alto Health Care System located at 3801 Miranda Ave Palo Alto, CA, 94304. Services will be delivered to all requesting departments throughout the facility on a range of shift schedules. If you accept employment with Ansible, you must also acknowledge that any assigned schedule is subject to change at the direction of either Ansible or its customers.
Position Pays: $47.58 - $51.79/hr

Responsibilities
- Repair, test, and calibrate central control consoles, including: Line balancing systems, Voltage sensing relays, Emergency power transfer relays, Supervisory trouble alarm circuits, Excelsior registers, Circuit monitoring relays, Maintain, install, modify, add, repair, troubleshoot, and test building electrical systems such as: Distribution panels, circuit breakers, power supplies, Switches and outlets, lighting fixtures, lamps, fans, Heating devices, appliances, buzzer and bell circuits, Temperature and pressure controls and regulators.
- Install conduit, wiring, and cable, complete splices/connections, and test circuits for continuity and safety.
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, service, and cleaning of high-voltage distribution systems: Switchgear, transformers, power supplies, Constant voltage regulators and systems, Emergency and alternate power systems and circuits.
- Repair, service, maintain, install, modify, and troubleshoot electrical/pneumatic equipment, including: Automatic doors, Kitchen and laundry equipment, Engineering shop equipment, Solid-state circuits, flexible wiring, control panels
- Operate, maintain, repair, and service: Emergency Power Generators (gasoline and diesel ),Automatic transfer switches, Fuel storage tanks
- Make circuit analyses, calculate signal flow, adapt electronic principles, and design, install, and maintain complex alarm systems, adjust frequency, timing, power supply, sensitivity, and interference
- Maintain, repair, and install a wide variety of electrical fixtures, appliances, and equipment
- Maintain, repair, and install electrical distribution equipment up to 12,000 volts, including: Panels, transformers, circuit breakers, underground distribution systems, soldering and splicing work
- Locate and diagnose trouble in: Fire alarms, lighting systems, buzzers, thermostats, heating equipment, shop equipment, laundry and medical ward equipment
- Maintain, repair, and service: Diesel and gasoline generators and related equipment
- Transfer switches, timers, voltage relays, and circuiting
- Use and maintain a wide variety of tools and test equipment, including cable pullers, hydraulic benders, pipe threading machines, meggers, multi-meters, frequency meters, watt meters, power factor meters, vibro-grounds, phase rotation meters, audio tone location equipment, high potential testers, ground fault interrupter testers, circuit analyzers, etc.
Qualifications
- Must have a California electrician’s license C-10 or equivalent.
- Must have trade and shop knowledge expected of a full-performance journeyman.
- Must have the ability to read and write and use simple shop or trade mathematics.
- Must have knowledge of the National Electrical Code and local codes.
- Must have knowledge of local and national safety codes.
- Must have the knowledge of general electrical theories and how voltage, current, and frequency affect equipment.
- Must have the ability to interpret and apply the National Electrical Code, local codes, and trade formulas.
- Must be proficient in reading and interpreting complex building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
- Must have the ability to use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and a variety of test equipment.
- Must have the ability to make independent judgments and decisions within oral/written instructions and trade practices.
- Must have the ability to work alone or in groups, determine materials/equipment needed, and select appropriate work methods.
- Must be able to resolve most problems independently, escalating more difficult ones to a supervisor.
- Must have the ability to adhere to and promote safety practices, in accordance with Health Care System regulations.
- Must be able to implement rough sketches and work instructions and understand oral statements and equipment specs.
- Must have knowledge and ability to troubleshoot/analyze systems and electrical equipment, including electromechanical/electronic systems.
- Must have skill and knowledge to use digital volt/Ohm meters, soldering equipment, and other standard trade tools.
- Must have the knowledge to apply VA standards and codes to generator and transfer switch equipment.

All candidates must be able to:
- Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
- Lift up to 20 lbs
- Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
- Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
