Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive vascular surgery services to VA patients.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat vascular conditions.
- Perform pre-operative, operative, and post-operative patient management.
- Manage patients across the continuum of care, including admissions and discharges.
- Coordinate diagnostic testing prior to surgical procedures.
- Educate and counsel patients and family members.
- Provide professional direction to nursing staff.
- Conduct outpatient clinics and perform vascular surgical procedures.
- Review consults and next-day patient cases for a minimum of two hours daily.
- Provide post-procedure evaluations, follow-up care, and consultation regarding complications.
- Communicate with referring physicians regarding treatment plans and appropriate procedures.
- Provide discharge instructions and education
- Attend quality improvement meetings and committee meetings.
- Attend surgical staff meetings and hospital morning rounds.
- Participate in peer reviews when applicable.
- Complete quality assurance/performance improvement documentation.
- Report patient safety incidents within required timeframes.
- Assist with education and supervision of healthcare trainees.
- Board Certified in Surgery.
- Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
- Active AHA BLS and ACLS certifications.
- NPI report printout
- Active DEA license
- Must be able to pass a federal background investigation
All candidates must be able to:
- Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
- Lift up to 20 lbs
- Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
- Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
